I returned from 3 weeks overseas in Australia and New Zealand earlier this year after the holiday season and kind of hit a wall, or at least that’s what it felt like. For someone (me) who loves creating her intentions and inspired vision for the year, I was just downright “low” about everything. I couldn’t write a vision! It was just weird!
So, I was “STILL” and the messaging I kept getting (downloaded from the Universe) was so simple that at first I discounted it as it didn’t even make sense at the time. All I heard was literally ”clean up your sh*t!”
I was like “what the heck does that mean?”
In my conversations back to Source (these conversations with the Universe are not like regular ones with your bestie or yourself, and if you have never had one, it kinda feels like you are just having a chat – but in a different way than the usual monkey mind!)
Anyway, I finally just listened and got “busy” with what I thought “clean up your sh*t” meant. I went where I was led and truly only had the energy for re-organizing the internal environments of my house, office and really “me”.
So, what does that mean?
Well, for me, it meant literally dealing with my messy food shelves, my kitchen and office drawers, all closets and our family garage (wow, was that a big job!). We even had a family garage sale!
AND it meant dealing with my open loops list – the one I have in an excel spreadsheet on my computer (my ‘brain dump’ of stuff that I said I’m going to do, promised myself I would do, I’m committed to doing someday, etc).
In my Find Your Shine progam, I call this Brain Dumping or ‘Open Loops’, because if you don’t get what’s in your head out of your head by putting it on paper (or on your laptop), then that stuff clutters your head. They are called Open Loops because your brain works on closing them. The brain is a resolution machine and it takes up brain space and your precious energy tying to find these resolutions! That’s why you wake up at 2am sometimes thinking about ridiculous stuff – it’s your brain not being able to shut down because it seeks to “close loops”.
So what started to happen for me 2 weeks into the process of “closing loops & cleaning sh*t up” was I started to get this bubbling of internal energy that was like I had been meditating for 10 days on a mountain top. The whole process (because I took on a ridiculous amount to close the loops due to being a “out of the closet” perfectionist) took over a month, and I’m actually still working on some bigger commitments open loops. Some of our open loops can take years to close or complete, but if you have a place to capture the stuff then your brain can relax a little.
So decluttering your brain (or brain dumping) is just a great tool to free up energy that you don’t even know is blocked or shut down until you do it! It’s kinda like (but only a little like) getting through your to-do list and being able to cross off all the items (which actually gives you a happy chemical release in the brain).
I was so inspired by going through this myself, as usually I have to experience what I am meant to share with YOU, that I did a talk on it on my new MOVEWITH platform. Decluttering gives you a system to “brain dump” and I can’t wait to hear about how closing loops leaves you with energy that you didn’t even know was blocked!
